What the Eye Holds
Acrylic and modeling paste on canvas in a transparent acrylic box, 2026

An eye in pain. A river of tears runs out of it and a fire of rage burns inside it, two things that do not usually sit together, and the eye holds both without closing or looking away. The endurance is what I was after, the holding of it all at once. Then love comes through, late and quietly. It seeps into the grief and into the fire, soothes what it finds in each, and the eye goes on looking.
